For me, having a mentor has been one of the biggest contributing factors to my success. Even if you’ve been in the industry for years, connecting with other RIAs and bouncing ideas off of one another can be a great way to find opportunities to evolve not only your firm, but your own set of skills. Be it a matter of technological abilities, sales skills or other areas of expertise, we all have room to grow, and a mentor can help you develop those talents more fully.
But a mentor isn’t the only place to get advice. Whether it’s attending conferences, creating an online study group or simply consulting with co-workers, you can begin gaining insights that can help you become a more well-rounded advisor. My suggestion to you is to open yourself up to these other points of view so you can grow as an RIA and keep your clients happy for years to come.
