Your clients are busy people, and one of your goals as an RIA is to make their lives easier. That’s why I am a big advocate of providing virtual financial planning services. By allowing your clients to interact with you online—and for some clients, exclusively online—your client base isn’t limited to just those individuals who can reach your office or meet in person. This also provides you the flexibility to enjoy a more modern balance of work and home life, which is great for young parents or active individuals like me.
There are a variety of technologies that help make serving your clients virtually a smooth process. Online documentation services, investor portals and other tools can keep you connected 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For my clients, being able to access their accounts and reach me when they need to isn’t just convenient—it’s something they might remember when an opportunity to refer my services presents itself.
